Turkey's Family and Youth Fund provides 2.18 billion lira in support

Turkey’s Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, announced that the Family and Youth Fund has provided 2.18 billion lira to 19,166 individuals this month. The fund, financed by revenues from the country’s underground resources, aims to strengthen family structures and protect youth from social risks.

Under the updated program, young couples can receive support based on their age: 250,000 lira if both partners are between 18 and 25, and 200,000 lira if they are between 26 and 29. The credit is offered with a 48-month maturity and a two-year grace period. To increase accessibility, the income requirement for applicants was raised from 2.3 to 2.5 times the minimum wage.

The program includes incentives for childbirth. For the first child, 12 months of repayments are granted as a subsidy, with the remaining debt deferred for another 12 months. If a second child is born within a 60-month period, the entire remaining debt is forgiven. To date, 17,853 couples have utilized the deferment option for one child, and 302 couples have had their full debts forgiven after having two or more children.
