Mardin social services: Minister Göktaş announces child and family support updates
Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş visited Mardin to inaugurate the Hasan Keleşoğlu Children’s Home Site, a facility with a 50-child capacity designed to support educational and social development.
During her visit, Göktaş announced significant social welfare statistics, noting that 25 billion lira has been provided in birth assistance to over 1.27 million children to date. She also highlighted that 195,813 children are currently receiving support alongside their families through social and economic assistance programs.
Regarding regional investments, the Minister stated that the Ministry has provided approximately 40.1 billion lira in support to Mardin over the last 24 years. Current initiatives include the ‘Gönül Elçileri’ project, which has placed 11,047 children with 9,302 foster families, and a new temporary foster family model implemented in 30 pilot provinces.
Additionally, Göktaş met with martyrs' families and veterans to discuss the ‘Terror-Free Turkey’ process, emphasizing the government's commitment to social unity and the protection of families during national transitions.
