Turkey's Family Minister Mahinur Göktaş Emphasizes Family Values and Women Leadership
Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş warned that the commercialization of family values threatens cultural codes and highlighted the need to strengthen family bonds in the digital age. Speaking at a panel on new communication technologies, she announced a 2024 Vision Document for protecting and strengthening families and previewed a series of events for the 2025 Family Year, stressing safe, conscious use of technology.
Göktaş also proclaimed the development of Muslim women leaders as a strategic national goal. She inaugurated the "Ally for Future" program, which brings together 31 young Muslim women from 24 OIC‑member countries for training in leadership, strategic thinking, and digital innovation. The minister said these efforts aim to increase women’s participation in decision‑making, green economy, and technology sectors.
Both initiatives reflect the government's broader agenda to preserve cultural traditions while promoting gender‑inclusive leadership in Turkey.
