Turkey's Food Exports Rise Above $687 million in First Half of 2024

Turkey's dairy industry recorded ice‑cream exports worth $23.5 million in the first four months of 2024, keeping the country a net exporter in the sector. Iraq led the market, followed by the United States, Northern Cyprus, Kosovo and Kazakhstan. The industry now comprises 919 production facilities and accounts for about 13.9 % of Turkey’s total dairy export value, which reached $523 million last year.

In the same period, Turkish sunflower‑oil shipments totaled 402,895 tonnes, generating $663.9 million in revenue – an 8 % rise in volume and a 20.1 % increase in value compared with the previous year. Djibouti was the top destination with $219.7 million, while Sudan and Libya imported $75.9 million and $55.8 million respectively. The South‑East Anatolia region contributed $302.6 million of the export value. Industry officials highlighted ongoing raw‑material uncertainties due to the Russia‑Ukraine conflict and noted that Middle‑East tensions have caused some order delays, but overall global demand for essential food products remains strong.
