Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan Visits Moscow

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan travelled to Moscow on 15‑17 June for a series of high‑level talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and President Vladimir Putin. He reiterated Turkey’s offer to host Russia‑Ukraine peace talks and warned against further escalation in the Black Sea, urging a limited cease‑fire covering ports and energy infrastructure. The agenda also covered regional issues such as the South Caucasus peace process, the Gaza and Syria conflicts, and cooperation on energy, trade and the Akkuyu nuclear project. The visit comes ahead of Turkey’s NATO summit on 7‑8 July and follows Kyiv’s request for Ankara to mediate bilateral talks.

The meetings aim to strengthen Turkey‑Russia diplomatic channels, promote stability in the Black Sea corridor, and explore Turkey’s role as a facilitator for a new round of negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
