Turkey's free trade zones record $11.7 billion trade volume in early 2024

Turkey's network of 19 free trade zones generated a trade volume of $11.7 billion in the January‑May period of 2024, with exports contributing roughly 46 % of that total. The zones employed 86,376 people as of the end of May.

For the full year 2024, trade activity in the zones reached $27.69 billion, and forecasts for 2025 project a 3.1 % increase to $28.55 billion. TOBB’s Turkey Free Zones Council chairman Edvar Mum said the second half of the year should see further growth, pushing annual figures toward $30 billion. The zones attract investors with tax incentives, strategic locations, low‑cost infrastructure and access to both domestic and international markets.
