Tatvan Çevre Yolu Near Completion, Targeted for 2027 Opening

Bitlis Governor Ahmet Karakaya announced that the Tatvan Çevre Yolu, a 10,237‑metre highway encircling Tatvan, is on track to be completed by 2027. The project includes roughly 5,200 metres of tunnel work, a 235‑metre viaduct and several bridges, with the second tunnel slated for completion this year. Officials said the new route will cut district traffic by more than half and will serve not only Tatvan but also the surrounding provinces of Van, Diyarbakır, Bitlis and Siirt.

The governor thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu for supporting the “Turkey’s Century” objectives. In parallel, 300 kilometres of bituminous hot‑mix asphalt are being laid on village roads, and additional utilities such as water and pavement stone are being upgraded, reflecting a broader push to improve regional infrastructure.
