Turkey's Grain Office lifts wheat export ban

The Turkish Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi (TMO) announced that it will lift the long‑standing ban on the export of bread wheat and wheat broken‑grain. The agency said that domestic production, existing stock levels and internal consumption needs now ensure sufficient market security, allowing exports to resume. Applications for export licences will be processed through the Orta Anadolu İhracatçı Birlikleri (OAİB) and will be evaluated against the country’s supply situation to maintain a controlled and balanced trade flow.

Two announcements cited slightly different dates for the resumption: one stated that exports may restart on 29 July 2025, while another indicated the permission would take effect on 29 July 2026. Both emphasised that the decision aims to protect producer and consumer interests and to preserve market stability.

The TMO reiterated its commitment to continue policies that support food‑supply security and market stability in Turkey’s wheat sector.
