Turkey's Industry Minister Kacır Opens Modern Cardboard Plant in Zonguldak
Turkey's Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır inaugurated the new Modern Karton cardboard factory in the Çatalağzı district of Zonguldak. The plant has an annual capacity of 650,000 tonnes and is projected to employ about 300 workers once fully operational.
Kacır highlighted the country's strong position in military UAVs, commercial vehicles, solar panels and other manufacturing sectors, noting that Turkey now ranks among the leaders in Europe for production of aluminium, flat glass, ceramics, plastics and wind‑turbine components. He described the investment – about $850 million – as a cornerstone of Turkey's “green and digital transformation” programmes, citing cash support up to 226 million TL and tax reductions covering up to 40 % of eligible projects. The minister said the stable investment climate and competitive cost structure give Turkish paper and cardboard producers an advantage in European markets, especially as EU green‑deal regulations drive demand for recyclable, low‑carbon products.
