Turkey's Industry Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır Leads Zero Waste Workshop in Trabzon
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır visited Trabzon on 6 August 2026 to attend a series of meetings and opening ceremonies at the Arsin Organized Industrial Zone, the Trabzon Arms Industry Company (TİSAŞ), Politek, and the Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ) entrepreneurship hub. He concluded his program by joining the Turkey Zero Waste, Environment and Climate Change Trabzon Workshop Result Conference held at the Osman Turan Culture and Congress Center.
The workshop, organized by the Zero Waste Foundation and the Ministry of Environment, gathered more than 240 participants, including the governor, mayor, university rectors and industry leaders. Attendees discussed 51 pilot proposals across 14 tables, covering measures such as rain‑water harvesting in public buildings, sensor‑driven drip irrigation, solar‑powered smart charging networks, electric bus expansion, plastic barriers for river mouths, and the conversion of organic waste into natural fertilizer. The Ministry’s Zero Waste Movement, launched in 2027, aims to cut waste generation, increase recycling to around 40 % and promote circular‑economy solutions nationwide.
