Turkey's Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi reaffirms crackdown on crime

Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi has reaffirmed the government's commitment to aggressive counter-terrorism and organized crime policies. During a recent interview, Çiftçi emphasized that the state will not retreat from its security measures, stating, “The state does not take its hand off the trigger.” He clarified that the current approach is not an amnesty process but a continuous effort to dismantle terrorist structures and seize their weapons.

Çiftçi noted that the effectiveness of these operations will be determined by field intelligence and state verification rather than the statements made by terrorist organizations. He also highlighted the scale of recent law enforcement actions, reporting that in the first seven months of 2026, authorities conducted 1,445 operations against 518 organized crime groups.

A video detailing a successful police and gendarmerie operation against a criminal group in Adana has gone viral, showcasing the Ministry's ongoing efforts to combat drug traffickers and organized crime networks across the country.
