Turkey's statistics agency (TÜİK) reported that the Consumer Price Index rose 31.75 % year‑on‑year and 1.78 % month‑on‑month in July 2026. The same month the Yurt İçi Üretici Fiyat Endeksi (Yİ‑ÜFE) increased 27.83 % YoY and 1.52 % MoM.

Based on the 12‑month average CPI, the legal ceiling for rent increases in August 2026 was set at 31.90 %, a slight decline from the July ceiling of 32.03 %. The new cap applies to both residential and commercial leases.

Analysts noted that the high inflation eroded the minimum wage by more than 5,500 TL, and the DİSK‑AR research centre reported the minimum wage fell to 5,576 TL. Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said the disinflation process continues, with annual inflation now around 31.8 %.

The government also confirmed a 5 % collective‑contract raise for civil servants that will take effect in January 2027, following the July inflation figures.
