Energy imports surged, pushing the energy import bill up 28.8% to US$5.92 billion.

The Habur border gate recorded record transit activity in the first half of 2026, handling over 730 000 vehicle movements and generating more than US$32.2 billion in transit trade volume.

Tourism figures for the second quarter indicate a 2.6% drop in revenue to US$15.865 billion and a 5.1% decline in visitor numbers to 15.581 million, although the sector’s annualised revenue for the first six months held at roughly US$25.7 billion, matching the 2025 level. Government officials highlighted support measures, including tax cuts and a TL60 billion tourism support package.
