Turkey's June unemployment rate falls to 7.6%, lowest since 2005

Turkey's labor market showed further improvement in June, with the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropping to 7.6%, the lowest level recorded since monthly statistics began in 2005. The decline marks the 38th consecutive month the rate has remained in single‑digit territory.

Youth unemployment fell to 12.8%, down 3.8 percentage points from a year earlier, while the female unemployment rate decreased to 9.8%, a 1.7‑point drop. Total employment rose by 227,000 persons to 32.733 million, lifting the employment rate to 48.9%. The labor force grew by 58,000 to 35.42 million, raising the participation rate to 52.9%.

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Labour Minister Vedat Işıkhan credited the results to ongoing reforms, investment credit programmes and targeted support for young people, women and labour‑intensive sectors.
