Turkey's lavender gardens draw tourists and boost local economies
Aksaray municipality inaugurated a 20‑acre lavender garden near the Aksaray‑Ankara highway as part of the "Morun En Güzel Tonlarına Yolculuk Günleri" festival. MP Cengiz Aydoğdu and Mayor Evren Dinçer highlighted the project’s role in combining agriculture with tourism, noting the garden will be open for 15‑20 days before harvest and will host photo sessions and serve lavender‑flavored ice cream.
In the southern province of Adana, the town of Feke has expanded its lavender fields from a hobby plot to over 200 acres. The fragrant fields have become a popular photo‑shoot venue for domestic tourists, spurring the opening of cafés, souvenir stalls and generating new income for local residents. Visitors enjoy the scenery alongside traditional snacks and drinks, reinforcing the region’s emerging reputation as a lavender tourism hotspot.
