Turkey's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 7.6% in June 2026, the lowest level recorded since monthly labour‑market statistics began in 2005 and the 38th consecutive month the rate has stayed in single‑digit territory. The decline was driven by a fall in the number of unemployed people, which fell by 168,000 to 2.688 million.

Youth unemployment (ages 15‑24) fell to 12.8%, while the gender breakdown showed 6.5% unemployment for men and 9.8% for women. Total employment rose by 227,000 persons to 32.733 million, lifting the employment rate to 48.9%. The labour force reached 35.42 million, giving a participation rate of 52.9%.

The broader labour‑market picture still shows a high inactive‑labour‑force (atıl işgücü) rate of 28.8%. Government officials, including Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz and Labour Minister Vedat Işıkhan, linked the improvement to policies such as the Investment Advance Credit Programme (750 billion TL) and a monthly 3,500 TL support for labour‑intensive sectors.
