Turkey’s statistical agency (TÜİK) released its June 2026 labour‑market report. Seasonally adjusted unemployment dropped to 7.6%, the lowest level recorded since monthly data began in 2005, with the number of unemployed falling by 168 000 to 2 688 000. Employment rose by 227 000 to 32 733 000 and the employment‑to‑population rate climbed to 48.9%. Youth unemployment (ages 15‑24) fell to 12.8%, while the inactive‑labour‑force (atıl iş gücü) rate decreased to 28.8%. In the same release, TÜİK’s 2023‑2025 “Hayat Tabloları” showed that expected life expectancy at birth increased to 78.5 years, up from 78.1 years in the previous period. Women’s life expectancy is now 81.1 years versus 75.9 years for men, a gender gap of 5.2 years. Healthy life expectancy at birth was reported as 58 years (men 59.1, women 56.9). The agency also noted that higher education levels are associated with longer expected lifespans.
