Overview

In July 2026 Turkey’s statistical agency TÜİK released its June labour‑market report together with the 2023‑2025 “Hayat Tabloları”. The report confirmed that average life expectancy at birth rose to 78.5 years, up from 78.1 years in the previous period, with women at 81.1 years and men at 75.9 years, preserving a 5.2‑year gender gap. Healthy life expectancy remained around 58 years (men 59.1, women 56.9). TÜİK reiterated that higher education is linked to longer expected lifespans. Unemployment fell to 7.6 %, the lowest level recorded since monthly data began in 2005, with the unemployed count decreasing by 168 000 to 2.688 million. Employment rose by 227 000 to 32.733 million and the employment‑to‑population rate reached 48.9 %. Youth unemployment dropped to 12.8 % and the inactive‑labour‑force rate fell to 28.8 %.
