Turkey's Lira Deposits Reach 11-Year High at 62% of Total, Says Finance Minister
Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that Turkish lira‑denominated deposits now constitute about 62% of all deposits, the highest share in the past 11 years. He attributed the rise to greater predictability and strengthened investor confidence, describing it as significant progress in Turkey’s "reverse dollarisation" effort. Şimşek said the government will continue policies aimed at bolstering confidence in the lira, maintaining macro‑financial stability and achieving price stability.
The figures were drawn from recent Central Bank statistics and were shared by the minister on social media from Ankara.
