Turkey's June manufacturing PMI drops to 47.1 as BIST 100 climbs above 14,400

Turkey's manufacturing sector contracted sharply in June, with the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) falling to 47.1 from 49.8 in May, signalling a deepening slowdown. Survey respondents cited weakened new orders, higher input‑price costs linked to the Middle‑East war, and lingering uncertainty.

S&P Global economist Andrew Harker noted the decline and suggested that any easing of regional tensions could improve conditions in coming months. Meanwhile, Istanbul Stock Exchange activity was upbeat: the BIST 100 index rose about 0.8% to a high of roughly 14,475 points, buoyed by gains in technology, industrial and financial sectors. Analysts highlighted upcoming U.S. non‑farm payroll data as a key driver for market sentiment.

In parallel, Soho Giyim and Energy announced its initial public offering on Borsa İstanbul, with shares priced at 15 TL each and a total nominal value of 100 million TL. Investor demand reached 1.23 times the supply, and more than 660,000 investors received allocations.
