Turkey's Ömer Bolat targets $50 billion in US-Turkey trade by 2028
Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat has emphasized the necessity of establishing preferential trade agreements and regional cooperation blocks to counter rising global protectionism and trade wars. Speaking at an event organized by MÜSİAD, Bolat noted that Turkey is actively working to develop economic and commercial relations with various regions of the world.
During his recent diplomatic mission to New York alongside President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the United Nations General Assembly, Bolat also outlined ambitious economic targets. He stated that the bilateral trade volume between Turkey and the United States is projected to reach $50 billion by the end of 2028. Currently, the two nations are seeing progress across multiple sectors, including energy, defense, aviation, and direct investment.
Bolat highlighted the significant role of the Turkish diaspora in the United States, noting that tens of thousands of Turkish businesspeople living in the U.S. play a vital role in promoting Turkish food and industrial products. He also noted that there are currently 2,345 American investor companies operating within Turkey.
