Turkey's Ministry of National Education announces 2026 teacher appointment schedules

The Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB) has announced new schedules and regulations regarding teacher appointments and transfers for 2026.

For teachers who previously held administrative roles and wish to return to management, the preference period for principal and assistant principal positions will run from September 17 to September 21, 2026. Results are scheduled to be announced on September 25, with new assignments beginning on September 28.

Additionally, the Ministry has released the 2026 second guide for voluntary inter-provincial transfers. In a move to address staffing shortages, the three-year service requirement in a current province has been waived for teachers applying to 12 specific provinces with high teacher vacancies: Ağrı, Ardahan, Bitlis, Hakkâri, Iğdır, İstanbul, Kars, Muş, Siirt, Şanlıurfa, Şırnak, and Van. Teachers who meet the total four-year service requirement (combining contract and permanent status) may apply for these provinces regardless of their current tenure in their existing location. Applications for these transfers will be accepted from September 23 to September 24, 2026, with results announced on September 25.
