Turkey's Murat Kurum hands titles to 1,071 Beykoz property owners

Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum attended a tapu‑distribution ceremony in Beykoz, Istanbul, where he announced the completion of the transfer of properties in 25 neighbourhoods under the 2/B program. Titles were handed to 1,071 owners, ending years‑long uncertainty for roughly 2,500 residents and providing them with secure housing.

Kurum also used the event to outline broader housing measures: Istanbul will receive 115,000 new social‑housing units, of which 15,000 will be offered under a rental‑model starting in September. Deliveries of social housing are slated to begin in March 2027 across 81 provinces. He highlighted the first phase of the 300,000‑square‑metre Beykoz Millet Bahçesi park, the upcoming renovation of Paşabahçe Stadium, and stressed that earthquake preparedness is a national priority.

The minister further reported early results of the Deposit Management System launched on 1 July, which collected 7.6 million packaging items in its first five days, with a target of 25 billion items annually and an expected contribution of about 30 billion TL to the economy.
