Turkey's Nurdağı Tunnel Closed After Multi‑Vehicle Crash
A freight truck lost control inside the Nurdağı Tunnel on the Tarsus‑Adana‑Gaziantep (TAG) highway, overturned and struck a large container. The impact caused a chain‑reaction collision involving dozens of vehicles, filling the tunnel with wreckage and scattered food supplies. No deaths or serious injuries were reported, but the tunnel was fully blocked, creating kilometer‑long queues and trapping hundreds of motorists. Emergency services, police and cleanup crews worked to remove the truck and container, clear the debris and restore limited traffic flow, now allowing a single lane of controlled passage.
The incident halted all traffic on the main route toward Gaziantep, prompting drivers to seek alternative roads while authorities continued to manage the scene and ensure safety within the tunnel.
