President Erdoğan talks with Iraq's Zeydi and Iran's Pezeşkiyan on cooperation and regional peace

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zeydi, stressing the need to deepen Turkey‑Iraq cooperation in energy, defence industry and transport. He highlighted projects such as the Kirkuk‑Ceyhan oil pipeline and the “Development Road” initiative, and invited Zeydi to Ankara for extensive talks.

In a separate call, Erdoğan spoke with Iranian President Mesud Pezeşkiyan, welcoming the recently reached US‑Iran agreement and pledging Turkish support to help the process conclude peacefully. He warned against attempts to sabotage the negotiations and reaffirmed Turkey’s intention to expand trade, financial and energy links with Iran.

Meanwhile, Erşat Salihi, former head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, said that the new Iraqi cabinet led by Prime Minister Zeydi will include a ministerial post guaranteeing Turkmen representation, underscoring the ethnic‑political balance in Iraq’s government.
