Turkey's solar and wind energy share reaches 23.7% of total production

Turkey has seen a significant increase in renewable energy production, with solar and wind power accounting for 23.7% of the country's total electricity generation as of July 2024. This represents a major shift from 2016, when solar energy's share was only 0.4%.

Solar energy production reached a new monthly record in July, generating 5.37 billion kilowatt-hours. The installed capacity for solar power stands at 27,507 megawatts, representing 21.7% of the nation's total installed capacity. Wind energy capacity has reached 15,358 megawatts, accounting for 12.1% of the total capacity.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that the country has undergone a major energy transformation over the last decade. The combined installed capacity of solar and wind power has reached 42,865 megawatts, making up 33.8% of Turkey's total electricity installed capacity of 126,476 megawatts.
