Turkey's 'Terror-Free' Initiative Spurs Calls for Legal Reform

Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security Ahmet Aydın used the social‑media platform X to argue that the "Terörsüz Türkiye" (Terror‑Free Turkey) process requires urgent legislative action. He linked the initiative to Turkey’s performance at the recent NATO summit, saying the country is moving from a passive observer to a shaping force in security architecture. Aydın urged the parliament’s National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission to approve the necessary legal measures before the session ends, praising President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli for their leadership.

Former Esenyurt mayor Ahmet Özer, who was removed from office and replaced by a trustee, also posted on X stressing that “justice is today’s most urgent need” and that peace cannot be achieved without it. He repeated the slogan “Justice! Peace requires justice,” calling for inclusive, equitable legal processes as a prerequisite for lasting social harmony.
