Turkey's TOKİ launches massive social housing programmes

Turkey's Housing Authority (TOKİ) has moved to the second phase of its "Century Housing Project" to build 500,000 social homes across 81 provinces. More than 5.2 million applications were received, and the draw for the first earthquake‑region units will be held in Adıyaman with Minister Murat Kurum attending. The project aims to complete the 500,000 units by 2028, offering 2+1 and 1+1 apartments with down‑payments as low as 10 % and terms up to 240 months. Rental units for low‑income families will also be built, with the first hand‑over scheduled for September.

In a related initiative, TOKİ announced a separate campaign to construct 20,000 homes in 64 provinces. Applications opened on 15 June and sales run until 17 July. The homes, ranging from 2+1 to 3+1 layouts, will be sold without credit, with payment options such as 25 % cash discount, 50 % down‑payment plus 72‑month financing, or split‑down‑payment plans. The largest allocations are in Bursa, Ankara, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya. Additionally, 15,000 rental units in Istanbul will be delivered by September for low‑income tenants, who will occupy them for three years before the units are re‑rented under the same conditions.
