Turkey's TPAO to dispatch seismic survey ships to Pakistan by September

Energy Minister Pervaiz Malik said Turkey Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) has completed visa procedures and is establishing an office in Islamabad, with its seismic research vessels expected to reach Pakistan's coast in September or October 2025. He added that, after the seismic work, drilling could begin within about six months.

TPAO secured three offshore blocks and two onshore blocks in the 2025 auction, and plans to explore these sites in 2026. The cooperation is part of a broader Turkey‑Pakistan energy partnership that includes agreements with Pakistani companies such as Mari Energies, Fatima, OGDCL, PPL, Prime and GHPL. Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar highlighted a target to raise bilateral trade to $5 billion and mentioned potential mining collaboration involving Turkish state miners.

Pakistan, which imports significant LNG and has low per‑capita energy consumption relative to Turkey, expects its growing industrial sector to drive higher hydrocarbon demand, making the venture attractive to investors.
