Turkey's Trade Ministry corrects false claim of 863 million‑lira fine for car maker

The Turkish Ministry of Trade clarified that an automotive company was fined 863,580 lira, not the widely reported 863 million lira. The fine was imposed by the Advertising Board after it found false technical specifications in a vehicle model's promotion. In addition to the monetary penalty, the firm was ordered to cease the advertisements. The ministry noted that penalties differ by media type: up to 31.8 million lira for TV ads, 8.635 million for internet ads and 863,580 lira for posters and outdoor signs in 2026. It warned that non‑compliance with the stop‑advertising order could trigger additional fines.
