Turkey's Trade Ministry Extends Second‑Hand Vehicle Sale Restrictions to 2027

The Turkish Ministry of Trade announced that the “6 month / 6,000 km” rule for second‑hand motor vehicle sales and the accompanying advertising restriction will remain in force until 1 January 2027. The measures, originally introduced to prevent speculative price spikes, curb stockpiling and protect consumers, have been extended for an additional six months.

Enforcement actions have resulted in administrative fines totalling 54 million TL on authorised dealers and galleries that violated the mileage‑age rule, and about 116 million TL on individuals or entities that breached the advertising restriction. Notaries will continue to block transactions by persons or firms selling more than three used vehicles within a calendar year without a licence. The ministry stresses that these controls aim to maintain price stability, ensure fair competition and combat unregistered trade in the automotive market.
