Turkey's Trade Ministry orders recall of phthalate‑containing toy

The Ministry of Trade announced, through spokesperson Bekir Kaplan, that a toy sold in Turkey is being withdrawn from the market after laboratory analyses revealed phthalate levels exceeding the legal limit and a design that allows the product to break into small parts, creating a choking hazard for infants and young children.

The product’s market entry has been prohibited and it has been listed in the Unsafe Product Information System (GÜBİS). Kaplan stressed the ministry’s commitment to enforce safety “red lines” for children's products and said all future safety decisions will be publicly posted through GÜBİS.
