Turkey's Transport Minister Sets July 22 Groundbreaking for Türksat Gölbaşı Data Center

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the foundation ceremony for the new Türksat Gölbaşı Data Center will take place on 22 July in Ankara. The facility will cover 35,300 square metres and include six system halls, two high‑performance rooms of twenty cabinets each, a 6,300 square‑metre white‑space area and office space for about 200 staff.

The investment will raise Türksat’s existing data‑center capacity three‑fold in the first phase and more than eight‑fold after the second phase, with a built‑in power capacity of 33 MVA. The centre will be built to LEED‑Gold standards and meet Uptime Institute Tier‑III and Turkish TSE 50600 specifications. It is designed to host AI applications, deep‑learning, data‑mining and machine‑learning workloads, providing low‑latency, high‑performance computing for government services such as the e‑Devlet portal.

Uraloğlu said the project will ensure “continuous, uninterrupted service even in extraordinary circumstances” and will consolidate public‑sector cloud and data services under a single, locally‑controlled platform, reducing duplicate hardware investments and operating costs while delivering a low‑carbon, energy‑efficient infrastructure.
