Turkey digital infrastructure expansion

In mid‑July 2026 Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister announced a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Türksat Gölbaşı Data Center, slated for 22 July in Ankara. The plan outlined a 35,300 m² facility with six system halls, high‑performance rooms, and a 33 MVA power capacity, designed to triple the agency’s data‑center capacity in its first phase and increase it eight‑fold after a second phase. Built to LEED‑Gold, Tier‑III and Turkish TSE 50600 standards, the centre will host AI‑enabled workloads and support critical government services such as the e‑Devlet portal.

By the end of July, construction progress was reported alongside another public‑sector project in Tekirdağ. The Gölbaşı centre is now projected to become operational in 2027, featuring 1 Exabyte of storage and up to 1,500 high‑density server cabinets. It will consolidate e‑Devlet and other digital assets on a fully domestic platform, offering extensive redundancy and resilience against cyber attacks and natural disasters. The Tekirdağ service building aims to improve local water and sewerage administration services while meeting updated earthquake regulations.
