Turkey's UKOME Board Issues Infrastructure Timeline and School Transport Rulings

The Manisa Metropolitan Municipality’s UKOME General Board approved a detailed timetable and coordination plan for ongoing infrastructure work in Muradiye neighbourhood, outlining excavation routes, work phases and traffic‑flow measures to minimise disruption.

In İzmir, the Administrative Court of Appeal (Danıştay) overturned a prior ban that prevented private schools from operating paid student‑transport services with their own (özmal) vehicles. The court ruled that such services may only be provided by commercially registered ‘S’‑plate vehicles, cancelling permits for schools that used private vehicles for transport.

Both decisions were adopted in UKOME meetings and involve municipal authorities and law‑enforcement agencies to enforce the new guidelines.
