Turkey's universities fast‑track AI and design graduates into industry

Turkish higher‑education institutions are accelerating the transition of students into the workforce. In artificial‑intelligence engineering programmes, students begin working for defence and technology firms such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, TUSAŞ and Roketsan while still completing their studies. The Higher Education Council (YÖK) has introduced new measures to develop the specialised talent needed for the country’s digital transformation, and professors like Tunca Doğan stress that AI engineering aims to systematise production and industrial processes.

At the same time, prospective architects and designers are weighing career options amid a booming global creative economy now exceeding $3 trillion. The sector’s growth, highlighted by UNCTAD, is driving demand for professionals skilled in sustainable building, interior design, industrial design and emerging fields such as neuro‑architecture and UX. Graduates are expected to contribute to climate‑friendly construction, lighting design and circular‑economy product development.
