Turkey's used car market highlights fast‑selling models and buyer checklist
According to the Motor Vehicle Sellers Federation, models that offer a wide service network, low fuel consumption, abundant spare parts and modest maintenance costs are selling fastest in Turkey's second‑hand car market. The Fiat Egea with its 1.3 Multijet diesel ranks first, followed by the Toyota Corolla (1.6 atmospheric) and Honda Civic (1.6 i‑VTEC). Renault Clio (1.5 dCi) and Volkswagen Polo (1.4 TDI/1.2 TSI) also change hands quickly, while Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Getz and Volkswagen Golf sit lower but benefit from brand familiarity and parts availability.
Experts advise prospective buyers to complete a series of checks before purchase. Verify the vehicle’s TRAMER record for prior damage, confirm the true kilometre reading through service logs, measure paint thickness (factory finish typically 90‑130 µm) and ensure chassis and engine numbers match registration documents. Starting the engine while cold can expose abnormal noises, and a thorough inspection of the undercarriage, suspension and brakes is recommended. A comprehensive expert inspection is urged to avoid costly post‑purchase repairs.
