Turkey's Vice President Yılmaz says economy entering top league with 30% capacity boost
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz told a gathering of civil‑society organisations and business leaders in Samsun that Turkey’s economy has crossed the $1.6 trillion threshold in gross national income and per‑capita income has risen above $18,000. He said the country now ranks 11th in the world by purchasing‑power parity and 16th by nominal dollars, and that annual growth of about 5.3 % over the past six years outpaced the global average of 3.5 %.
Yılmaz highlighted that industrial capacity has increased by roughly 30 % compared with pre‑pandemic levels, a gain he described as a “capacity and production boost”. He linked this progress to digitalisation, artificial intelligence and the green transition, and noted tax cuts for manufacturing and agriculture (12.5 % corporate rate) and a 30 % levy for the finance sector. He also cited the economic cost of terrorism at an estimated $2 trillion and the impact of regional conflicts on energy and logistics.
The vice‑president concluded by stressing Turkey’s commitment to peace, diplomatic solutions and a strong defence posture while aiming to protect production capacity and attract further investment.
