Turkey's Youth Ministry drives eco‑recreation workshop and beach clean‑up

The Ministry of Youth and Sports launched the "Doğa Dostu Gelecek: Gençlerin Katılımıyla Ekorekreasyon Politikaları" project with its first regional workshop in Ankara. Held at Gazi University’s Gölbaşı campus under the Erasmus programme, the session brought together students and officials from Central Anatolia, offering training on eco‑recreation, sustainable living habits, and regional policy development. Professors Beyza Merve Akgül, Tebessüm Ayyıldız Durhan and Serkan Kurtipek led the lectures, while participants designed environmentally‑focused activity plans in practical workshops.

In a separate initiative, young volunteers took part in the "Mavi Denizler Güvenli Yuva" programme in Dalyan, Muğla. The Youth Summer Club visit to the Sea Turtle Research, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (DEKAMER) educated them on the protection of endangered sea turtles. After a briefing, the participants conducted a comprehensive beach cleanup, sorting collected waste for recycling. The effort, under the motto "Protect nature, give hope to the future," aimed to raise environmental literacy among youth and foster practical solutions to local ecological challenges.
