Aegean Sea: Turkish aircraft violate Greek airspace 13 times
On August 26, 2026, the Hellenic National Defense General Staff reported a series of Turkish aerial activities in the Aegean Sea. A total of six Turkish aircraft, consisting of one CN-235 maritime cooperation aircraft and five unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), conducted individual flights across the northeastern, central, and southeastern Aegean.
These flights resulted in 13 violations of Greek national airspace, with seven violations attributed to the CN-235 and six to the UAVs. Additionally, eight violations of air traffic rules within the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) were recorded.
According to official reports, none of the Turkish aircraft were armed. Greek fighter jets identified and intercepted the aircraft in accordance with international regulations and established practices. This activity follows similar incursions recorded on the previous day.
