Turkish aircraft violate Greek airspace in the Aegean

Turkish aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) conducted seven violations of Greek national airspace in the Aegean Sea on August 12, 2026.

The incursions involved four Turkish aircraft, including one ATR-72 maritime cooperation plane and three UAVs, which operated within the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) without submitting flight plans. The violations were recorded across the Northeast, Central, and Southeast Aegean.

Greek fighter jets identified and intercepted the aircraft in accordance with international rules and standard practices. No physical engagements between the Greek and Turkish aircraft were reported.
