Turkish Airlines and South African Airways launch codeshare partnership

Turkish Airlines and South African Airways (SAA) have put into effect a new codeshare agreement that links their networks across Africa, Turkey and major global destinations. Turkish Airlines will place its TK flight code on SAA‑operated services between Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Windhoek, Harare, Victoria Falls and Mauritius. In return, SAA will place its SA code on Turkish Airlines flights linking Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban with Istanbul, Paris, London and Frankfurt.

The partnership aims to give passengers seamless travel options through the Johannesburg and Istanbul hubs and to explore deeper cooperation such as route development and expanded network integration. Matshela Seshibe, Acting Group CEO of SAA, said the deal “marks an important milestone in strengthening SAA’s global connectivity.” Ahmet Olmustur, CEO of Turkish Airlines, added that the airlines are “glad to bring together our complementary networks, thus offering our guests more convenient travel options.”

Turkish Airlines has long built its global reach through alliances and codeshare agreements, leveraging partnerships to serve destinations beyond its own fleet.
