Turkish authorities conduct widespread anti-drug operations

Law enforcement agencies across Turkey have conducted several large-scale operations targeting drug trafficking and organized crime.

In Ankara, narcotics units carried out operations between October 18 and 24, resulting in the detention of 154 suspects, 69 of whom were arrested. Authorities seized over 614,000 synthetic pills, 18 kilograms of cannabis, 11 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 1.6 kilograms of cocaine, along with weapons and various currencies.

In Diyarbakır, simultaneous operations in the Bağlar and Yenişehir districts on October 23-24 led to the seizure of nearly 40 kilograms of drugs, including skunk, cannabis, and methamphetamine, as well as 272 synthetic pills. The raids also resulted in 14 legal proceedings and the detention of 11 wanted individuals.

In İzmir and Muğla, coordinated raids on October 20 uncovered a greenhouse-style cannabis production area and a specialized concealment device inside a vehicle. These operations yielded 63 kilograms of skunk and 100 cannabis plants, leading to seven arrests.

Additionally, in Ordu, the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office coordinated with police and gendarmerie to address organized crime, illegal betting, and violence in sports.
