Turkish authorities seize spoiled meat and expired goods during food safety audits

Municipal authorities in Turkey have conducted food safety inspections across different regions, resulting in the seizure of expired and spoiled goods.

In the Haliliye district of Şanlıurfa, municipal police and agricultural officials seized 315 kilograms of unhealthy meat from a butcher shop, including 163 kilograms of expired chicken and 152 kilograms of spoiled red meat. The business was fined 105,600 TL. Additionally, 825 expired products were confiscated from school canteens, and 155 products were seized from markets near schools during hygiene and licensing checks.

In Altındağ, municipal police inspected school canteens to ensure students have access to safe food. During these audits, officials identified expired packaged goods and noted that a fire extinguisher had passed its refill date. Penalties were issued to the responsible canteen operators.
