Turkish cargo ship Lider Bordo Mavi attacked by drones in Black Sea
The Lider Bordo Mavi, a Turkish Ro-Ro vessel traveling from Samsun Port to Russia's Tuapse Port, was targeted by a drone attack in the Black Sea on the night of August 26.
Reports indicate that three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), believed to be of Ukrainian origin, struck the ship, triggering a fire on board. Erkut Çelebi, President of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO), confirmed the incident, noting that the vessel had departed Samsun on August 25.
Initial reports state that five crew members were injured during the attack and subsequent fire. While international media outlets, including Sputnik and Informator, have attributed the strike to Ukrainian drones, there has been no independent international verification or official claim of responsibility at this time. Efforts to control the fire and assess the damage to the cargo and technical equipment are ongoing.
