Turkish Cities İzmir and Denizli Launch Major Water‑Supply Upgrades

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality (İZSU) has started a 525 million‑lira program to replace aging drinking‑water pipes. The project will renew about 222 km of main lines and 165 km of branch lines across 12 districts, benefitting roughly 33,000 customers and aiming to cut leaks, reduce outages and secure supply amid climate pressures. Work is being carried out simultaneously in districts such as Karabağlar, Konak, Buca and Güzelbahçe, where a new 3‑km transmission line is also being built.

In the neighbouring province, Denizli’s water and sewage authority (DESKİ) is investing 28.5 million lira in the Bekilli district of the town of Poyrazlı. The plan includes a modern 300 m³ storage tank and an 8.8‑km distribution pipeline that will serve four neighbourhoods, resolve pressure problems, eliminate lime‑water issues and improve reliability during summer demand peaks.
