Turkish municipalities accelerate road, park and infrastructure upgrades nationwide
Local authorities in Turkey are carrying out a wave of infrastructure works. In Ardahan, Mayor Faruk Demir announced a 250 million TL budget for city‑wide road and sidewalk renewal, refuting social‑media claims that no work is being done. Antalya’s ASAT General Directorate is simultaneously completing sewer lines and hot‑asphalt resurfacing on more than 120 km of streets in Döşemealtı.
The KONYARAY Banliyö commuter rail project in Konya is installing 4 km of acrylic sound‑barriers along the line, while the railway corridor itself is being upgraded to a 9‑km uninterrupted traffic corridor. In Osmangazi (Bursa) pest‑control crews have treated 136 neighbourhoods with certified biocides to reduce rodent and insect problems.
Rize’s high‑altitude roads are being cleared of snow, and in Midyat (Mardin) a new intercity bus terminal foundation has been laid to boost regional transport. İzmir’s Ödemiş district finished storm‑water and drinking‑water upgrades before resuming asphalt works, and Didim continues road repairs to improve safety and comfort. Kars began construction of the 37‑km Karakurt‑Kağızman road, a 2.9 bn TL project expected to finish in 1 200 days. Yeşilyurt (Malatya) is stabilising rural roads, while Urla (İzmir) is investing 150 million TL in asphalt and key‑pave projects. Kayseri’s Cumhuriyet Square is being renewed with 16 000 m² of basalt stone paving.
These coordinated efforts aim to enhance transportation safety, reduce congestion, improve public spaces and support local economies across the country.
