Turkish cities launch lavender harvest festivals in Kütahya and Kayseri

The Kütahya Municipality, together with the Kütahya City Council and the Living Heritage Culture and Art Association, organized a Lavender Harvest Day in Aloğlu village. Mayor Eyüp Kahveci attended, allowing residents to pick lavender in the fields and highlighting the role of local production, rural development and tourism.

In Kayseri, the Metropolitan Municipality began harvesting roughly 250,000 lavender plants cultivated in city parks and boulevards. Under Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç, the harvested flowers are sent to the municipality’s Natural Products Garden Refining Facility, where they are distilled into essential oil and further processed into lavender cologne. Technician Ömer Coşgun said the aim is to produce about 40 litres of pure lavender oil this season, turning the crop into economic value while enhancing the city’s green landscape.
