Turkish coastal towns launch lifeguard patrols and beach clean‑ups for summer season

The Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality’s Hayat Teams have begun the summer duty on the Karasu, Kocaali and Kaynarca beaches. Seventy‑six lifeguards are stationed in 48 towers, with additional jet skis and ATVs, and officials said the goal is a “zero‑loss” season, promising that “no family will shed a tear” during the holidays.

In nearby Gemlik, the municipality’s police and sanitation crews have stepped up pre‑season inspections of the Kumla, Karacaali and Narlı neighbourhoods. Violators of the environmental code were fined under Article 41 of the 5 326 Law, and boat owners were ordered to move vessels to the designated marina. Mayor Şükrü Deviren said the checks will continue throughout the summer to keep the coastline clean, safe and livable.
