Turkish Competition Authority fines tire makers over 3.6 billion lira for antitrust breaches

Turkey’s Competition Authority imposed administrative fines totaling 3.633 billion Turkish lira on eight tyre manufacturers and distributors for coordinated price fixing, anti‑competitive dealer restrictions and illicit labour‑market practices.

The largest penalty of 1.019 billion lira was levied on Brisa, followed by Goodyear (672 million lira), Continental (397 million lira), Hankook (361 million lira), Pirelli (292 million lira), Prometeon (206 million lira) and Michelin (185 million lira). The probe uncovered collusion on price movements, exchange of competitively sensitive labour information, employee‑poaching bans and regional/customer restrictions imposed on dealers.

The Authority also ordered new dealer‑system rules: price lists must be water‑marked, bulk price announcements are prohibited, and dealers may access the system only with individual user accounts. Firms must document compliance within three months.
