Turkish Court Extends Detention of Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler and Two Others
In a hearing before Istanbul’s 17th Heavy Criminal Court, the prosecutor asked that the pre‑trial detentions of Beykoz mayor Alaattin Köseler, Special Penalty Department manager Veli Gümüş and businessman Uğur İnci be continued. For a fourth suspect, Havva Dindar, the prosecutor recommended conditional release with judicial‑control measures – house‑arrest and a ban on leaving the country.
The court adopted the prosecutor’s view, ordering that Köseler, Gümüş and İnci remain in custody while Dindar is released under the specified controls. The trial, part of a wider operation targeting CHP‑run municipalities, was postponed to 13 July for the next hearing.
